Thanks to all of you who made our last show at the Velvet Lounge such a success. It went so well we thought we were too good to play at the Velvet Lounge, but they convinced us to come back for a charity (read: money for a new turntable) show. This time, we've got an even bigger bill and even bigger egos to go along with it, so please come out (and bring your IDs!) to the Velvet Lounge Monday, May 2 for more music, more Schlitz, more testy bouncers, and more ethics violations:
Eastern Homes
Monday, May 2, 8 p.m., $6
Velvet Lounge (915 U Street N. W.)
Metro: U St./Cardozo (Green Line)
Sharing the stage Monday are three other great bands, all of whom you can listen to on iTunes: Venus Fly Trap, from the Netherlands, is on tour with (clandestine) support from the Dutch government; Wonderful Smith, from Chicago, have a new CD out produced by Steve "I did Bush's second album!" Albini; and one of DC's finest (and busiest) acts, LeJeune, will Freedom Fry your ass off. Bring your friends and blackberries
Quick update for all of those in the Commonwealth or District of Columbo: (Do we have friends or fans in Maryland? If so, I meant no offense.)
Tonight we are all blessed to have My Friend Autumn (http://www.myspace.com/myfriendautumn) taking over for Laura Burhenn at the Velvet Lounge. This is the first time we will have played together in our current musical incarnations, and we're damn well excited about it.
Here's the schedule for tonight:
9 PM -- My Friend Autumn
9:45 PM -- Eastern Homes
10:30 PM -- The Apparitions
11:30 PM -- U2 (in case you couldn't get tickets for the October show)
Free stickers and Dilly Bars for the first 50 people through the door! Hope to see all of you there with bells on!

You're invited to what could well be our best show yet, at the club
with the best sound in the city, in the best city in the world (sorry,
Cleveland!) at the Velvet Lounge in DC April 7th. We'll have new
songs, new haircuts, and improved self-esteem (thank you, Fab Five!).
Beyond that, we are playing with two very fine acts, local songstress
Laura Burhenn and The Apparitions, who are driving all the way up from
Kentucky and looking for some DC hospitality. This is our first show
together at the Velvet Lounge, so we need as many people there as
possible in order to build our indie rock credibility. (Please tell
the guy at the door you're there to see Eastern Homes, otherwise your
good money goes to the man.) And did we mention that the Lounge sells
Schlitz in a can? How very nu-hipster, indeed.

If you're like me - and you might be if you often find yourself watching C-SPAN2
at three in the morning - you aren't looking to go out on a Tuesday night. No,
you want to be safely situated on your couch to watch Scrubs, and then you want
to take a nice long bath with your rubber ducky.
But next Tuesday is not just any ordinary Tuesday. No, the founder of your
nation was born on February 22nd, 273 years ago. In other words, George
Washington is going to be 273 years old next Tuesday. Now, you have to ask
yourself: What Would Washington Do?
Well, chances are he would be unfamiliar with Scrubs and I've heard that he
wasn't much of a bather. Given his fondness for music and alcohol, methinks he
might just make his way to DC9 for an evening of music with Eastern Homes. And
let us not forget that Fairmont, also playing Tuesday night, hails from New
Jersey, which was the stage for Washington's great victory in Trenton. So saddle
up and ride on over to DC9 for a night of Rock n' Roll in honor of Mr.
Washington. Show starts at 9pm.

The Homes has not been hibernating this winter. No, songs are being written and shows are being played. Come listen to the strange winter brew that the Homes has been concocting at the Galaxy Hut, January 31st at 9pm. It's free: as in beer, not as in liberty. For once you hear the brilliant hooks and succulent rhythms, you will be a slave to the sound. Opening the evening is Robin Wynn, a songstress from the idyllic hamlet of Charlottesville. See you there.

Two MP3s from our recent show at Iota have been uploaded. Enjoy.
Thank you to everyone that came to the show. We next play at Galaxy Hut on January 31st. See you there.

After a depressing election and several botox injections, Eastern Homes is back
next Friday (December 3rd) at Iota, this time with twice the number of shaved heads in the
band. Well, we're not really "back," but... reborn, if you will. Come meet
Marc, on bass, and Tom, on nearly everything else, and hear for yourselves their
tonal chops. We'll be playing a short (but sweet) set, and hope all of you can
make it. Be there by 9. And please just ignore the camera crew from VH1 BANDS REUNITED when we
take the stage.
Everyone have a safe holiday -- watch out for those turkey fryers.
Eastern Homes is back after a much needed break. We are rested and energized and ready to rock. There are two new additions to the Homes. Tom Hnatow is a multi-instrumentalist's multi-instrumentalist, representing with keyboard, guitar and banjo skills. He also doubles the population of shaved heads in the Homes. The low end is now the domain of Marc Roemer, who plays a mean fretless bass. Please help us welcome Tom and Marc into Eastern Homes.
We are currently working on our live show and we will be playing in DC this winter. See you there!
Eastern Homes is currently on spring break in Cancun. Cancun, New Jersry. We'll be back sometime in May. Or June. Or July.

EASTERN HOMES LIVE!!!! Saturday, February 28th 2004 @ Arlington's loveliest bar, Galaxy Hut. No tickets or canned goods required. Shirts and shoes OPTIONAL!
Eastern Homes will play selections from its unreleased/unrecorded debut album, Lover/Fighter, to be released/recorded at some later, warmer time. It is requested that women attend. Lots of hots of them. No bruisers, please. We all remember what happened that one time....
Get to Galaxy Hut early to get all the getting. Andy Zipf will be playing either before or after the Homes, depending entirely on what he wants to do. JJ will arm wrestle anyone that asks. Winner gets a beer. Dan will give you exactly what you need: a good tongue lashing. Terrence, the Homes's resident booty shaker, will shake his booty for all to see.
Merry Christmas!!! My (JJ) Christmas blew because my car quit on me on the way home. I spent Christmas Eve alone in Arlington watching spanish films with my cats. The only thing that gave me solace in my time of loneliness was the afterglow of our show at Staccato. For all the other lonely souls out there, I've uploaded some of the tracks from the show on the 19th, including bastardized versions of some holiday favorites. Thanks to Jacob Smith for recording the show.
12.05.03, Shows with Andy Zipf and Bishop Allen
For Christmas this year, I put two things on my list: a show with Andy Zipf and another with Bishop Allen. Guess what? Santa came early this year. We play with Andy at Galaxy Hut on February 28th. This will be right after the release of Andy's new record, I Stole the Morning Sun, so you'll get him just before the world tour.
On March 12th, we're going to be rocking Staccato with Bishop Allen. Have you guys seen Bishop Allen? They are the best ever. They have a glockenspieler in the band. This is a must see show.
Thanks to the grace of Andy Zipf, you, our faithful forlorn lovers won't have to wait until our December 19th Staccato show to get your Eastern Homes fix. We'll be playing at the Grog and Tankard up on Wisconsin Ave in Georgetown next Wednesday on December 10th. You will feel the love.
11.08.03, New Show @ Staccato
Thanks to everyone that came out to Staccato last night. We rocked out some new songs for the first time and we messed up the old favorites enough that they sounded new. That's what it's all about for Eastern Homes: messing the music up. It was a pleasure to play with superstar bands bwp. and Sarah Azzara and fortunately, it won't be long before we get to play with Sarah and the band again. We've got a Christmas show lined up for December 19. Check out the shows page for more information.
Our next show is at Galaxy Hut on Sunday, November 16th. Yes, it's a school night. No, this won't stop you from coming out. We're playing with Seana Carmody and her current events aware band, the Shenzhou 5.
We are motivated. Kind of.
10.16.03, 4 Easy Pieces
1. New Red Sox. They win. Then lose.
2. New Staccato show on 11/7 with bwp and Sarah Azzara .
3. New website. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe never.
4. New album. Starting Saturday, we record. No, really.
Sarah Azzara rocks. Literally, figuratively, succulently. We will open for her and the band on October 27th at the Black Cat (backstage ... we aren't superstars, yet).
